In 2002, CanSupport held its first Annual Foundation Course in Palliative Care in collaboration with the Institute Rotary Cancer Hospital, AIIMS. This was the first course of its kind to be offered to medical professionals and caregivers in Delhi. The importance of this can not be overstated as palliative care is yet to enter the medical and nursing curricula in this country. Since then CanSupport has held two more Foundation Courses and continues to be committed to spreading greater awareness and expertise in the emerging field of continuing care of patients with life limiting diseases such as cancer. The faculty for the courses have consisted of nationally and internationally renowned experts in palliative care. In addition to its annual course CanSupport organizes workshops from time to time for medical professionals, caregivers and volunteers to train them in palliative care. There are weekly in-house training programmes for the home care teams.
