CanSupport’s Walk for Life

On February 10th 2008, more than five thousand people will participate in the inaugural "Walk for Life with CanSupport”. This event will for the first time bring together local citizens, celebrities, politicians and members of the international community resident in Delhi on a common platform to express their solidarity against cancer. We invite you to become part of this unique event which aims to take giant strides against cancer. The Walk will focus on breast cancer this time as it has become the number one cancer for women in our metropolitan centres.

Cancer is the 4th largest killer disease in India. There is a crucial need to sensitize people to its ever-present threat and to ensure that those who are diagnosed receive timely and appropriate medical and emotional support. Today, 80% of people diagnosed with cancer come too late for cure and have nowhere to turn for advice and supportive care when their treatments fail.

It was in response to this need that CanSupport was founded in 1996. Today it provides information and hope and expert palliative care at no cost to the homes of cancer patients and their families living in Delhi and the NCR. We hope that the Walk will not only provide a platform for creating awareness about cancer but will also raise much needed funds for expanding CanSupport’s present programmes.

You can help us by offering your time as a volunteer, by participating in the walk or by arranging sponsorships that will cover our costs and ensure that we reach our target. Sponsora will receive an attractive benefit package which will include wide exposure in the media and mention on all promotional materials and merchandise.

We need you to help make this event a success and hope that you will walk with us to make a difference in the lives of those living with cancer.
