Cancer is not only traumatic, it is also very isolating. Not being able to share one's pain and anguish with those close to you in order not to upset them adds to the enormous suffering and stress of the disease. Being able to talk, therefore, to those who have been through a similar experience, as research has shown and common sense suggests, is highly therapeutic.
On the first and third Wednesday from 11 am to 1 pm, at CanSupport Area Centre,
(C/o South Delhi Welfare Association, first floor, 5, Institutional Area, Sangam Marg, Sector 9-R.K. Puram, New Delhi 110022) of each month, adult patients and their care-givers are encouraged to drop by and meet with others like them, as well as with those who are now well and thriving. In this environment of mutual trust and understanding they are able to share their stories and concerns, give and receive support, and learn new ways of managing the stresses and challenges they face, under the guidance of a trained facilitator.
Please call the CanSupport Helpline (+91-11-26711212) for further information about the monthly meetings of this peer based support group.
